Studio DayZ is closed, but the game will continue to be developed

The studio that supported the game DayZ has just been closed. Bomeia Interactive has confirmed this information. Based in Bratislava, Slovakia, the studio had more than 40 employees at the time of its closure.

These employees were offered other positions in other Bohemia Interactive studios. And according to the company, the closure of the Slovakia branch is according to the consensus from the management of both sides.

Bohemia Interactive quickly reassured the community that DayZ was still in development. Studio Slovakia has actually been in the process of slowly decoupling game support since early 2019, with its main development studio located in Prague, Czech Republic.

During the game’s development roadmap in January, Bohemia Interactive confirmed that the DayZ team was downsizing to migrate talent to the company’s own engine. “Enfusion technology will be used to develop Bohemia Interactive’s future titles, and to support this, several members of the team switched to it entirely last June. DayZ only has a small development team consisting of long-time programmers in many areas, “said the article.

“While this change obviously affects the overall development process, the team has always been passionate people who wanted to make DayZ the best game with the time and resources they had. We are pleased with what we have achieved in 2019, and are very excited for 2020.”

Game development roadmap 2020 can be found on the DayZ website.
