Call of Duty: Modern Warfare just updated to patch 1.23.0. This update raises the player limit in the Verdansk map to 200, but also makes Capacity settings of Modern Warfare over 200 GB. A 250GB SSD probably won’t have enough space for this shooter anymore.
Immediately after the update, a Redditor posted a photo of the Modern Warfare installation folder on his PC, the total size of the game has reached 209 GB. This number is even larger than the original capacity estimate of Modern Warfare and Warzone on PC (about 197 GB). Initially, Warzone required less storage than expected, but after being updated with new modes and other additional content, the amount of data of the game has increased significantly.
Games are taking up more and more space, but Modern Warfare is a special case. Even Destiny 2, with all of Shadowkeep’s extras installed, hasn’t crossed the 100GB mark on PC (despite initial estimates of 165GB).
Some people have theorized as to why Call of Duty: Warzone takes up so much space. Most assume that the problem is related to the fact that uncompressed data is easier to handle on low-end systems. Whatever the reason, Modern Warfare players need to quickly find ways to save their memory space.
