According to GamersNexus’s experiment, the Steam Deck can only play games continuously for 87 minutes before it runs out of battery. This duration can be stretched a bit more if you limit the frame to 60 FPS. That is a number that makes many people disappointed because of the Steam Deck.

Contrast it a bit with the Nintendo Switch, the handheld game console that has been storming for the past few years. In fact, the 2017 Nintendo Switch will have a battery life of 2.5 hours – 6.5 hours. The next generation sessions are even better with the 2019 Nintendo Switch (4.5 – 9 hours) and Nintendo Switch Lite (3 – 7 hours). Thus, if compared with Nintendo Switch, the Steam Deck will lose a lot in terms of battery capacity.

With a generation of handheld game consoles, battery capacity is extremely important. We can’t always have a power outlet for charging while the first standard of the handle console is portability and freedom.
