PlayStation 5 will update with the ability to install an additional SSD and a firmware version that allows to accelerate the cooling fan.
The current “storming” games like Call Of Duty or Cyberpunk 2077 all have terrible capacity. (at least 250 GB for both games above). This makes the PlayStation 5’s internal SSD storage (which is only 825 GB) become so small. But don’t worry, because Sony has allowed gamers to add an M.2 SSD to PS5, starting in the summer of 2021.
Regarding the new firmware, in addition to the function of allowing additional SSDs to be attached, it also has the ability to increase the rotation speed of the cooling fan. This helps PlayStation 5 operate with stable temperatures when fighting heavy games. PS5 is designed to be compatible with most M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs on the market today. But to be more specific, we still have to wait for Sony to officially announce it.
The theoretical SSD capacity of the PS5 is 825 GB, but in reality only 667 GB is available. Users can add extra hard drives, but they only work with older PS4 titles. Allowing additional SSDs is a right move for Sony, showing that they listen to feedback from gamers. And you can rest assured to fight more blockbuster games!
