In a surprise announcement, Sony shared a PlayStation 5 controller, called DualSense. The design of the DualSense 5 shares many similarities with the PlayStation DualShock controllers while further improving the technology.
First, fans will recognize the sporty tone from the DualSense. Traditionally, Sony chose the all-black controller, but DualSense is different. In addition, this color design also partly reveals the color of the PS5. Maybe Sony feels that Microsoft decided to go all-black for their Xbox, so this is an opportunity to make the PS5 more eye-catching for gamers.

Confirmed features in DualSense include haptic feedback and force triggers, to give you a more realistic game feel than with normal vibrating controllers. These features have been standard for other controllers for quite some time, so it’s not surprising that Sony decided to add them to the PS5 controller.
Sony also transformed the Share button into a Create button. This suggests that PS5 will have more options for sharing gameplay clips and screenshots. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed anything more than the name of this button.
Other big changes in the PS5 DualSense controller include a built-in microphone so you can communicate in-game and chat without the need for extra accessories. We don’t know if this microphone has been adjusted, but often the microphone built into the handle may not provide great sound quality for other listeners. Most PS4 users know how poor the microphone quality in the DualShock 4 is, hopefully, this time things will be better.
DualSense also changes the position of the light bar above the handle and points them to the two edges of the touchpad. This could be the PlayStation 5’s push with VR, since many games utilize the light bar to identify information (Destiny 2 uses it to fully represent Super), so it’s completely understandable that it’s easier to see it.
There’s no doubt that the DualSense controller will become more popular, not least because of its dominant white color scheme. Some of you will love the change brought about in the PS5 era while others wonder why Sony decided to make the adjustment after having been faithful to black tones for so long. Perhaps we will know more when Sony launches the PS5.
