Unlike Absolver, which is an online multiplayer game, this product of Slotlap focuses on the single-player experience. The common point of the two games is the fighting gameplay with beautiful martial arts moves.

Throughout the trailer during the Sony State of Play event, we can see the main character aging from a young man into an old man. According to the developer, in Sifu age will be affected when the main character dies and respawns.

More specifically, every time a player dies, they will be revived and aged a little bit, turning the player from a novice martial artist into a true master, true to the game’s title.

Immediately after the trailer was released, there were many comments that felt that Sifu’s kung fu style was similar to Jackie Chan’s films. Jordan Layani, one of the game developers, said this is exactly what they are aiming for in the interview.

“Jackie Chan’s films, as well as The Raid, helped inspire the core of Sifu’s design.” Layani explained.

Besides Jackie Chan and The Raid, it can be seen that Sifu is also somewhat inspired by John Wick. More specifically, although not using guns, the fact that the main character can pick up melee weapons to attack and throw them at enemies from a distance easily makes many people think of the fight scene in John Wick 3. Moreover, some settings such as museums and nightclubs also make many people think of this series.

Currently, the story of Sifu has not been revealed, one thing can be certain is that the game will be released this year on PS4, PS5 and PC.
