Shroud reveals why he gave up Twitch to switch to Mixer

Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek shocked the gaming community this week when he announced he would be changing his streaming platform from Twitch to Mixer. Recently, he shared the reason he made this important decision, as well as more about his future.

Shroud posted a video on October 24 to announce that he will follow Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, moving to Microsoft’s streaming platform. He promises viewers that “still the same old shroud” but in a “new home”.

During his first stream on Mixer, the former CS player explained to fans why he thinks this decision is right for him and for his career.

“I just think this is the best move for my career, frankly,” shroud admitted, later saying he was quite nervous before the stream officially launched on Mixer on October 24.

“I’m not worried about the decision to switch, I’m worried about my first day here (Mixer), for some reason. After the first day, I was fine, but I was 100% sure I was right. This is my decision, it’s the best decision, and I’m doing it, you know what I’m saying, right?”

He also mentioned how many people subscribed to him on Twitch before coming here, and said Mixer’s free sub is a potential solution to this problem.

“This is my decision anyway,” he told those wondering about subs. “I had to take that into account. You get a free sub on Mixer, which means you have a Twitch sub back.”

Shroud was a bit surprised to see so many people watching his Mixer stream on the first day. He confirmed his stream will have more features.

Shroud said his name will soon be changed to “shroud” instead of “Shroud” and promised more emotes, donation notifications, and the chat box on his stream will be back.

“Will you release more emotes? Yes, this is only the first day. Before, it was really hard to talk about this before it actually happened, everything was kept under wraps, so it was a bit delayed,” explains shroud.

“For example, my chat room will pop up when it’s done, and notifications will start popping up. Of course, I will take everyone’s opinion, we will have more emotes. I already have an idea, but the team will change a few things. It will take some time.”

The new Mixer star also recalls the making of the 50-second intro, which featured his lover Hannah Kennedy and his cat. The video gained nearly 5 million views in just 10 hours.

“There was a lot going on… Mixer had a team, a whole team just to install the tunnel in my living room,” he said.

Shroud said most of the shooting took place in his home, where the team set up a dark blue tunnel, and recorded him sitting at his computer desk preparing to play. Overall, filming took more than 12 hours from start to finish, shroud said.

“They even had someone on duty because the cat was in the shot, the cat was part of the clip, and that person recorded all of its health information,” he explained. “I thought: ‘This is really cool, Hollywood class!’ That’s so great.”

However, shroud’s first stream did not go well. The former CSGO player had to sit and look at Modern Warfare’s standby screen in front of the community’s expectations, the reason being because the game server had a problem.
