Shroud points out the biggest problem that ‘will ruin’ Apex Legends

Twitch star Shroud is enjoying his time with Apex Legends, but the game has a problem for him if Respawn Entertainment wants the game to live a long life.

Apex Legends is a hugely successful game when it was first released on February 4th: the game has attracted 50 million players in a short time. However, this number of players can be reduced with the barriers that hackers are creating in the game.

During a live stream on March 20, Shroud voiced his concerns about the hacking continuing to plague Apex – something he thinks could kill the game if the company doesn’t change.

Shroud said he spoke with Respawn about prioritizing a reliable anti-cheat system in the game. While the developer has added a report feature to the game, he doesn’t think that will be enough to stem the tide of hacking.

“That is my biggest concern when I talk to [Respawn Entertainment] about this game, a long time ago,” Shroud said. “I said, ‘if you can’t handle the hacker, no reporting system will save the game.’… The reporting system is completely useless, [trừ khi] I know how to get rid of hackers. Hopefully this doesn’t happen, but it looks like it’s happening again.”

The former professional CSGO player is really concerned about this, as he understands that hackers are often out of control – especially with free games. But, while the streamer thinks free-to-play games “is a great way forward,” the lack of solutions to hackers could create a bleak future for Apex.

“I tell you,” said Shroud. Hackers will break this game. It’s hard to beat hackers, you can’t beat them.”

Shroud said that to prevent hackers, Respawn should contact Epic Games to ask about their anti-cheat system. Anyway, surely Respawn will do something to fix this problem soon.
