Shroud is officially back – Instantly reaches half a million viewers

Only one day after officially confirming the return to the “old roof” Twitch, Shroud had its first live stream. The male streamer himself did not put too much expectation on this livestream, which was only expecting 150-200k views, but the result has reached more than 500k. The enthusiasm of the audience made Shroud unable to help but exclaim: “Thank you. Sometimes I think I don’t deserve your love. I’m just a normal gamer.”

Late last year, when Mixer began to emerge with the ambition to take the throne from Twitch, livestream platform under the command Microsoft This guy doesn’t hesitate to spend money in exchange for super big contracts like Ninja, Shroud and a host of other potential names. However, less than a year later, in June, Mixer suddenly announced that it was shutting down and merging into Facebook Gaming. Some streamers agreed to switch to Facebook while others left to find a new destination. With Shroud, he decided to end his exclusive contract with Mixer and return to the old playing field – Twitch. Twitch also later confirmed that it had signed a new exclusive agreement with the male streamer.

Unfortunately, the first livestream to mark his return was not very smooth when experiencing some technical problems. Although the audience had to wait nearly an hour compared to the time Shroud announced earlier, surprisingly, the livestream still attracted more than 500k views and 13k new Twitch subscribers. Shroud was almost dumbfounded, saying during the live broadcast that:

“I only expect 150-200,000 viewers. I don’t know why so many of you are patiently waiting here for me, but I really appreciate it. Thank you. I’m just a normal guy who likes to play games. At first, I didn’t think too much, but as the audience grew, I didn’t deserve it… I’m just a gamer.”

While this initial viewership is admirable, more time is needed to answer the question of whether Shroud can sustain this success long-term. After all, Ninja has previously brought a huge following to Mixer but has also struggled to maintain that track record over time. For now, however, it seems that Shroud’s decision to return to Twitch is the correct choice for both parties.​
