Fans of the Yakuza series are eagerly awaiting the release of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. On February 28, Sega released a demo on PlayStation 4 for players to try. But surprisingly, this demo was the full version of the game, forcing Sega to remove the demo from the North American PlayStation Store.
Gamers were surprised to discover that the demo of Yakuza 6 was more than 30 gigabytes, which is more equivalent to the capacity of a full game than a demo. People soon realized: instead of just uploading the opening of Yakuza 6 to the PlayStation Store, Sega had mistakenly uploaded the entire game, or at least a large portion of it. People discovered that instead of the game stopping only after the prologue, it continued without limit, and the player could get medals. When discovered by Sega, Sega decided to remove the game from the PlayStation Network.
We apologize, but have had to remove the Yakuza 6: The Song of Life demo from the PlayStation Store. We are as upset as you are, and had hoped to have this demo available for everyone today. We discovered that some were able to use the demo to unlock the full game. 1/2

[penci_blockquote style=”style-2″ align=”none” author=”” font_style=”italic”]We’re sorry, but we had to remove the Yakuza 6: The Song of Life demo from the PlayStation Store. We’re just as sad as you, and hope this demo reaches everyone today. We discovered a few people were able to unlock the full game through this demo.[/penci_blockquote]
At the moment, we still don’t know why they made this mistake. At the time of writing this article, other English regions are still playing the demo. Looks like this bug is only happening for the North American PlayStation Store. Sega intends for demo players to be able to pay to continue when Yakuza 6 is officially released, but the payment is not shown in the North American demo. It is unknown if players of the full version will be able to continue saving games they have played before when the official version is released.
Sega hasn’t announced when the Yakuza 6 demo will return, so those who missed it will have to wait a bit longer. Yakuza fans are calmly waiting for the English version to come out while the Japanese language Yakuza 6 has been out for over a year now. After deciding to delay the release date from March to April, plus this February 28 event shows that the game is almost complete, so fans probably won’t have to wait long.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will launch exclusively on PS4 on April 17.
