Samurai Warriors is back with a new version

During the livestream Nintendo Direct took place this morning (February 18), Koei Tecmo has officially introduced to players the latest version in the series hack and slash game famous Samurai Warriors. Set in Japan in the Sengoku Era full of chaos and turmoil, Samurai Warriors 5 will exploit the story of two prominent characters at that time, Oda Nobunaga and Akechi Mitsuhide.

The two warlords named were the most famous figures in the Sengoku Era (or Warring States period) of Japan. Oda Nobunaga is considered the first samurai era lord to conquer and unify the provinces of Japan. Meanwhile, Akechi Mitsuhide is known as Nobunaga’s close and talented general. However, in 1582, taking advantage of the time when the war with the Mori clan had not ended, Akechi Mitsuhide led his army to besiege Nobunaga, forcing him to commit suicide.

Samurai Warriors 5 will be the latest title of this franchise since Samurai Warriors 4 (2014) on PS3 and PS Vita. The game was scheduled to be announced in 2019 but was later forced to push back the schedule. This sequel will bring players back to the series’ unique one-on-one-thousand matches. The game also adds real characters from history such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi or Ochi – Nobunaga’s sister.​

Samurai Warriors 5 will officially launch on Nintendo SwitchPS4, Xbox One and PC this summer, but the specific time is unknown.
