Revealing the map that is said to be GTA 6, recreating the entire city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

GTA 6 is being very interested by gamers.

While Rockstar has traditionally never participated in E3 or other late spring and summer events, the GTA fan community has nonetheless enjoyed participating in all the speculation. With GTA 5’s “aging” and reports of GTA 6 continuing to grow, fans can’t help but wonder what will happen next. A recent leak revealed more information about GTA 6, in which the game’s map will recreate the entire Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.

In 2018, some images of GTA 6 maps were shared showing multiple islands spread out in a large body of water. Only one of these images shows a detailed section of the map, including what is believed to be Vice City. The rest of the map looks like it was drawn by the MS Paint tool. Two years later, another separate image showed a detailed map of the same image as the original depiction of Vice City. The authenticity of these images is still unclear as Rockstar has not confirmed any leaked information about GTA 6 online.

The latest example of the Grand Theft Auto community’s burgeoning discussion of GTA 6’s alleged leaked images on Reddit last week. The user, Boastful_Clown, views a newer image from 2020 that shows an updated and detailed image of an island. This user stated that they believe the island is intended to recreate the entire Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro in GTA 6 being developed by Rockstar. The user also pointed out some key locations on the images and compared them to the actual map of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

More specifically, this Redditor points out a circle of a possible location for Rio de Janeiro’s famous Jesus Christ statue in GTA 6’s Vice City. Other comparison points include swampy areas. , the Cagarras Islands, and Rio de Janeiro’s Santos Dumont airport in the real world, which quite closely match GTA 6’s Vice City map of the city. The Redditor claims the existence of these visible landmarks. The leaked map of GTA 6 implies that Rockstar is building a city based on Rio de Janeiro.

The biggest problem with the Redditor’s statement remains the possibility that these images are all fake. Perhaps the creator of the fake photos used Rio de Janeiro as inspiration to create GTA 6’s Vice City. Or perhaps it was all a total waste of effort, the GTA 6 images are fake and has no actual connection to Rio De Janeiro. The gaming community will have to wait for Rockstar to officially announce Grand Theft Auto 6 in the near future, at least into 2023.
