RetroArch is an emulator application that allows you to manage console game emulators (called cores) in the same interface. RetroArch allows you to download most popular emulators directly to the app, but with the Steam version it’s a bit different. Each emulator will launch independently as free DLC, and only 10 cores will launch for the time being.

The developer decided to limit the number of cores released to make it easier to fix bugs. “We’ve rolled out over 60 cores, but to make sure things don’t go wrong and to make it easier to fix bugs.”

The RetroArch team has received approval from a number of emulator developers to distribute the core on Steam. Currently, their plan is to release more cores than the original 10.

The first ten cores include Mupen64 Plus Next, Kronos, PCSX ReARMed, Stella, SameBoy, mGBA, Mesen, Mesen S, Genesis Plus GX, and Final Burn Neo. They are DLC included in RetroArch on Steam.

If you’re wondering how RetroArch can appear on Steam without fear of legal problems, emulator software is completely legal. You can use this emulator to run games you own, such as original PlayStation games that run directly from your PC’s CD drive, without fear of piracy. It is illegal to copy discs, distribute and download new ISO and ROM files.

RetroArche is great for keeping your emulators up to date and easy to manage thanks to its library features for your old games.

The Steam version of RetroArche has yet to have an official release date. This release was originally scheduled for July 30, 2019.
