Respawn Responds To Apex Legends’ China Region Lock Issue

Apex Legends developer has confirmed that there is still a lot of work to be done against hackers, but the China region lock is really unlikely.

Apex Legends exploded into a saturated battle royale market in February – reaching a large enough global player base to compete with Fortnite.

Like any hot game, some players will find a way to cheat to win, most notably the China region – which is considered the cradle of hackers and cheaters. PUBG was previously forced to lock the China region to minimize the wave of hacks in October 2018.

With hackers still rampant in Apex Legends, many people have called on Respawn Entertainment to apply the same thing to prevent players from quitting the game due to hacking problems.

However, one of Respawn’s developers confirmed on Reddit that there are more anti-hacking methods in development. It will be a long battle to ensure fairness in the game.

The developer also said that locking the China region will not solve the hacking problem in the Asian server because the game is not officially released in China.

It’s likely that many people use VPNs to access the game – which means that region locking won’t solve the hack as hackers will continue to get around IP address banning.

It looks like Apex Legends players in Asia will have to temporarily “live with the flood”, while Respawn has not updated anything yet on the release date of the new anti-cheat methods.

With the popularity of the game as well as the potential in the Asian market, Respawn will definitely do its best to find an early solution to this hacking problem.
