Last week, Rockstar finally announced that the console cowboy game Red Dead Redemption 2 will be coming to PC. Latest, we get full information, including new guns, horses and quests.
In addition, Red Dead Redemption 2 also shares the required configuration for the game:
Lowest configuration:
OS: Windows 7 – Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K / AMD FX-6300
RAM: 8GB
GGPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB HDD
Capacity: 150GB
Sound Card: DirectX compatible
Recommended configuration:
OS: Windows 10 – April 2018 Update (v1803)
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
RAM: 12GB
GPUs: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB HDD
Capacity: 150GB
Sound Card: DirectX compatible
With a capacity of up to 150GB, you will probably want to upgrade your SSD hard drive, other than that all other hardware is not too heavy. According to a hardware survey from Steam, the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB recommended card is currently the most popular card, and 8-12GB of ram is the standard today.
Although Rockstar doesn’t say specifically, the “lowest” configuration is usually aimed at 1080p 30 fps, while the “recommended” configuration is for 1080p 60fps. Many gamers prefer to game at 1440p and aim for 120fps or higher. Let’s wait and see what the configuration of the computer is to get the above two parameters.
It’s not surprising that the 2018 game console doesn’t need a huge PC. With that said, Rockstar started taking care of the PC part as soon as Red Dead Redemption 2 came out on console. According to the developer, the PC version includes:
- Increase range
- “Higher quality” for general lighting
- “Improving” footprints in the snow
- “Improved” contrast and shadows at higher resolutions.
- Trees are improved
- Grass and fur “improved”
- HDR support
- Unlock more resolutions (4K and higher)
- Ultra-wide aspect ratio and multi-monitor support
- Frame Unlock
The biggest point here is that the resolution and frames are unlocked.
Red Dead Redemption 2 on console looks great already. Therefore, the PC version will definitely be even better. How smooth the game runs on PC is another story.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently available for pre-order on the Rockstar Games Launcher and launches on November 5. It will also be available for purchase on the Epic Games Store. Steam will go on sale in December.
