PUBG handles hacking by letting hackers play with hackers

Although the developer of PlayerUnknown’s BattlegroundsBluehole, it is not possible to completely remove all components hack, cheat out of the game, but they’re taking the smart step of dealing with those suspected of hacking. Only recently, players using cheat software noticed that they were being matched with other hack users.

Clear, Bluehole won’t comment further on how they handle cheating players in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, but seeing cheaters receive “retribution” is also “cool”. While winning a PUBG match doesn’t offer any particularly significant benefits, these hackers seem to enjoy experiencing the feeling of winning even if it’s not a well-deserved victory. Unfortunately for them, now they have to face other cheaters if they want to win.

Information about the new hacker-specific matchmaking mechanism first appeared on the subreddit of PUBG, which gave information and evidence from a hacker forum. Apparently, a well-known hacker (with many accounts) has started to notice that his matches are increasingly filled with hacks and cheats, even though that account has not been banned once.

After finishing my new aimbot yesterday, I got a bit bored so I decided to win one game of PUBG with a crossbow and another with a pistol (~15 kills each with ~50% headshot rate). After that, I found my matchmaking time to be much longer than before. Usually I click “Play” and enter the game right away, but now it takes 1-2 minutes. This only happens on this account of mine and other accounts still find matches instantly. Does this mean my account has been “flagged”? I’m pretty sure my hack went undetected and I’ve never been banned.

I also have to wait a long time for this match. Lol

In fact, the owner of this forum post is very confident that PUBG cannot detect its cheat software, but it seems that is not the case. Perhaps Bluehole is “teasing” those who use hacks and cheats before preparing to ban the next batch.

This is not the first time that a developer has applied this method of matchmaking, and certainly Bluehole will not be the last game company to use this method. Many of you probably still remember that Xbox One used to include a reputation system, which would help good players and punish bad, highly-reported players. Specifically, this system will let rude, cheating players play together, while decent players will have a more peaceful multiplayer experience.

Of course, Bluehole will not allow the violators to continue playing PUBG despite watching them struggle against other cheaters and hacks which is quite fun. Bluehole regularly bans players who use third-party software or exploit vulnerabilities to gain an unfair advantage. Since PUBG started Early Access a few months ago, the game has locked accounts for more than 80,000 players using hacks, cheats, vulnerabilities or violating the Terms of Service.

Unfortunately, rampant hacking, cheating, etc. is a serious problem of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and bans are hard to get rid of. At least we can have some peace of mind knowing that even if they haven’t been banned, there are other ways to punish them.
