“Every day you plug your face into the game, there will be a day when you can pick up and eat your child” is probably the saying that “hears to boring” of many gamers. Although now the society’s prejudice about the two words “gamer” has reduced a lot, really, no parent is happy to see their child crashing into the computer screen all day. However, it’s time for things to change because even without doing player career transition (in fact very few people can succeed), the game sometimes opens up many great opportunities that we never expected. The story of the male gamer below is an example.

Ryoo Kyung-hyun or SeleCT used to be a pretty popular name in the community Starcraft 2. In 2011, he and his teammates won and won more than 15,000 USD in prize money at one of the first tournaments of Starcraft 2. SeleCT also has many notable achievements in North America when participating in Major League tournaments such as placing 2nd at 2010 MLG Pro Circuit Washington DC and 3rd at 2011 MLG Pro Circuit Dallas. The most notable of SeleCT’s career is the victory of $ 10,000 at the Battle.net Invitational in 2011 when he brilliantly defeated TT1, Huk and Sheth – all quite prominent names.

However, his career as a gamer soon blossomed, and now SeleCT seems to have lost interest in pursuing a professional gaming path. Posted on his personal page not long ago, SeleCT said that he was looking for a job and hoped that his followers, if they knew which software company was recruiting, would introduce him to him.

And SeleCT got really lucky when Tobi Lütke – CEO of e-commerce company Shopify happened to be one of his fans. Immediately, SeleCT received an invitation to work from this Director. Leaving a comment under SeleCT’s post, the CEO said: “I would be very happy if you came to work at Shopify. Your Starcraft track record is more than enough for a stellar CV and the position definitely belongs to you.”

Now, if you intend to apply for a job somewhere, try boldly filling in your CV with “gaming experience”, maybe you will be lucky like the gamer guy in this story?!
