There are many rumors circulating ahead of CES 2020, when Sony prepares to take the stage at this annual event. Last week, the biggest rumor was that Sony would announce the PS5, the next-gen console at CES 2020. The company hinted that such an announcement would happen at the event, with the words “the” future is coming” (the future is coming).
Unfortunately, Sony does not share official images of PlayStation 5 nor its configuration. However, they have also announced the logo that they will use for the device. As many PlayStation fans have predicted, the logo is not unexpected.
Admittedly, this is not too shocking when Sony did not announce the PS5 at CES. Sony mostly usually shares non-gaming hardware products at CES, like TVs or cameras. This time, Sony is willing to spend some time on game hardware.
At CES, Sony shared the logo for the next-generation console along with some of the impressive milestones they’ve achieved in the gaming industry. Sony says it has sold more than 5 million VR devices since the product and launched in the last quarter of 2016. Sony also said the PS4 sold more than 104 million units, making it the second best-selling console in history. The console currently holding the leading position is Sony’s 2nd generation console, PS2.
Rumors about PS5 are constantly being rumored, when Microsoft announced the Xbox Series X at the recent Game Awards 2019. For example, the PS5 is rumored to be backward compatible with all previous PlayStation consoles, including improved graphics on older games.
Finally, fans have somewhat of a grasp of what the next-gen console will look like. Images of the PS5 dev kit have appeared on the internet, with a not-so-beautiful design. Hopefully, Sony will announce the new console in full soon, like at the State of Play event.
