Bad news for the PlayStation 5 maker.
The hacker group Fail0verflow recently announced that they have successfully gained access to the original PlayStation 5 keys while only a few days away from the 1 year anniversary of the launch of this console.
Fail0verflow has also successfully cracked PS3 and PS4 so that PS4 can run Linux operating system, even playing modified versions of Pokemon games.
Being able to crack deep enough security and find the original keys of gaming consoles means that hackers can trick the console into doing other tasks it wasn’t originally designed to do. that is, for example playing free versions of games or game emulators of other platforms.
Fail0verflow does not publish their hack details. What this means is that the PS5 will essentially still be safe, at least in the near term.
Before Fail0verflow, a hacker named Andy Nguyen (The FLoW) also figured out how to enable Debug Mode on PS5, which is not visible on commercial consoles.
So far, Sony has not commented on this incident.
Sony certainly doesn’t recommend jailbreaking its devices, but they might want to know specifically how Fail0verflow bypasses its solid security layers to repair and prevent the same thing from happening again. after.
In addition, Sony is currently dealing with the limited supply of PS5 so the possibility of a lawsuit at this time is very unlikely.
