Valve and IceFrog promise not to interfere with the Major with new patches. But they didn’t say they would leave the Minor too! Therefore, 7.15 happened right in the middle of GESC: Thailand and it made many people nervous. 7.15 doesn’t touch this hero, but it does change the game’s system. Let’s analyze the changes and see how they will affect.
- Bounty Runes now spawn every 5 minutes
- Bounty Runes now give gold to each player (40 +3/min)
This change will affect everyone, especially position 3 and 4 heroes. If the offlane doesn’t go well, you can run to bounty running every 2 minutes. But not now. It’s over. It’s highly likely that a 2-1-2 formation will be imposed and roaming is unlikely, especially with the idea of solo offlaner not being a good thing in 7.15. However, it can happen depending on the draft of the match. Nahaz said this:

It also almost puts an end to roaming support. The roaming support role has been nerfed in the last few patches even though Bounty Rune, roaming support can still pick up Bounty Rune and buy Tome of Knowledge to level 6. But this idea will no longer exist. Moonmeander said IceFrog made the offlane too easy, adding shrines and neutral camps. But this time, IceFrog was too strong and made the offlane as difficult as before 6.86.
Bounty runes will now be:
Minute 0 – 40 gold per rune for the whole team
5th minute – 55 gold per rune for the whole team
10 minutes – 70 gold per rune for the whole team and so on (+15 per rune)
Alchemist will be tripled with his Greevil’s Greed.
Not only will this affect lane, it will slow the game down. Teams that focus on pushing and want to take control of the map, won’t get gold every 2 minutes anymore.
- Bounty Runes now refill bottles
- Bottle HP/MP regeneration increased from 80/40 HP/MP to 100/50
Some people liked the change to Bottle because it was nerfed in the previous few patches.

- Melee Creep base bonus gold reduced by 2
- Range Creep base bonus gold reduced by 1
- Range Creep bonus gold per upgrade changed from 1 to 3 (With those changes, the 40 minute gold difference is less than 2052 gold)
- Melee Barrack breaking reward reduced from 225 to 175
- Bounty for killing Ground Courier – Courier not yet upgraded – reduced from 175 to 125 (Flying Courier – Flying Courier – still 175)
These changes will slow down the game when the amount of gold received is less compared to previous patches. Bounty Hunter hunting Courier in the first 3 minutes will receive less reward.
- Denied towers now lose all gold instead of half (previously denied increased 50/60/70/80 for tier 1/2/3/4 turrets)
Another unexpected change! Do you give the opposing team a sense of ‘hit’ when they’ve pulled most of their turret health and then it’s gone in an instant if denied. And this amount of gold is not small!
- Gold bonus from stacking Neutral camp increased from 20 to 25%
- Ancient heal speed increased from 8 to 12
IceFrog wants to encourage support to stack ancient for carry. So why support still doesn’t do it?
25% is quite a lot of gold. Stacking the jungle will definitely create a decent gold income for the supports.
- Observer Ward purchase cooldown reduced from 150 to 135 seconds
- Observer Ward price reduced from 80 to 75
It will have more influence in professional matches. The ward price is not the problem, the problem is the cooldown. In a long match, the reduced cooldown means you can buy a lot more wards (as long as there’s gold to buy!).
- Roshan’s Slam damage per minute increased from 8 to 10
- Roshan base damage increased from 65 to 75
- Roshan’s base health increased from 5500 to 6000
This patch is geared towards long-term matches. Killing Roshan, especially the early Roshan, will be much harder. Let’s say the first Roshan will take about 15 minutes. Roshan will have:
- 40 more damage than before
- 500 more health than before
Players can’t win early Roshan easily and have an advantage in teamfights anymore! Hopefully Ursa will appear more because the hero himself is still very strong against Roshan (however, in long games, Roshan is not beneficial at all).
- Captain Mode time per round increased from 30 to 35 seconds
- Captain Mode second turn order changed from 2/1/2/1 to 1/2/1/2. (1 is the team that starts first in the ban pick, 2 is the team that starts later)
It’s still unclear how this change will affect the draft. Basically, it helps the team pick later to have a better view of the opponent’s ban and somewhat know what the other side is planning. Teams often choose to pick before winning a coin toss. Perhaps, it will help them pick Radiant/Dire instead of picking first or picking later. But right now, we still don’t know
These changes will have a big impact. Noxville and Graeth were displeased when the update popped up in the middle of the Minor tournament.
Imagine you had a Dota 2 match tomorrow which you desperately needed to win to get a direct invite to TI and the game was fundamentally changed.

Some interesting changes in the game system. They will be present in these GESC: Thailand matches. This structure will also apply to the next Major, which is also when the MDL Changsha Major kicks off on May 14. We’ll have to wait and see how 7.15 really affects the game.
