Over 1,200 hacked accounts banned at Fortnite World Cup

Epic Games has banned more than 1,200 Fortnite accounts and canceled the bonuses of over 200 players after being investigated for hacking during the first week of the Fortnite World Cup, the Online Open Round. Investigation found that the hackers competed in many areas, shared accounts, colluded with each other and one account was even banned forever for using hacking software.

This hacker (Epic did not name) used hacking software in the semi-finals of the tournament. Account playing “less than 5 minutes” is detected and banned. While most other accounts are banned for 2 weeks for their violations.

Of those, 196 dropped out of the prize pool after being discovered playing in multiple regions. Epic said that the prize money for other players at the tournament will change, but the new updated results will not be fixed on the Fortnite in-game leaderboard.

Nine winners lost money for sharing accounts, and one was disqualified for colluding with other players. Epic Games said it added a “live collusion detection algorithm” during the competition. Collusion is when players in solo mode work together to gain an unfair advantage over other players, which can get you banned even in non-tournament mode. Only custom games are not subject to collusion surveillance.

After the first week of the solo qualifiers, two players – including a World Cup winner – were accused of hacking. Epic Games seems to have mentioned this to the community recently.

“We appreciate the community’s interest in the authenticity of the competition,” Epic Games said, “but questioning the outcome of an individual participating without providing direct evidence would be discredited. the glory of individuals as well as the team who tried their best with their own strength to overcome.”

“Unsportsmanlike conduct from participants…will not be tolerated in competitive Fortnite.”

The Fortnite World Cup Online Open qualifiers begin April 13 and will continue for the next nine weeks. The second week of qualifiers will focus on Duo mode. The best players will compete in the Fortnite World Cup, which will take place from July 26 to 28 in New York, USA.
