Conan Exiles game publisher Funcom has announced a series of “adventure strategy” games called Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. The game will launch in 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is currently being developed by Bearded Ladies – a team that includes game veterans Hitman and Executive Producer Ulf Andersson, best known for the Payday series.

As the name of the game, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will be set in a post-apocalyptic setting. Also, “adventure strategy” is a rather strange genre, so Andersson explained what it means. According to him, it is a combination of “XCOM’s intensive tactical combat system with a storyline that is gradually revealed as you explore immense forests and abandoned cities with a team of Mutants ( his mutant). Mix that with real-time stealth gameplay to give you a unique approach and avoid confrontation while exploring.”

The press conference about the game also announced the summary of the context:

[penci_blockquote style=”style-2″ align=”none” author=”” font_style=”italic”]“Of course the world will end – the question is when will it happen. Changing weather, global economic crisis, deadly epidemics, and tensions between new and old superpowers have turned our world into a fiery desert. For the first time since 1945, nuclear weapons were used in a conflict of war. Mushroom clouds rose from east to west before smog appeared. Humanity has disappeared. Now only mutants remain.[/penci_blockquote]

Other than that, few other details have been revealed about the game, except that the game is being developed using Unreal Engine 4 technology. Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden includes a Crossbow Duck named Dux, a hot wild boar. Bormin, and a petrified-skinned woman (or something like that).

Although the setting of the game (mutations in post-apocalypse) seems quite similar to Biomutant, we have to see if they are similar in terms of gameplay. For now, check out the game’s cinematic trailer below:

These unnamed heroes have a mission to find the legendary Garden of Eden, maybe this is a paradise for a group of mutants. Overall, the game looks very interesting, but we have to wait for more information to know better.
