Korean developer, Webzen announced today Mobile MMORPG is in the process of being implemented, that is MU Archangel. The game is based on the longtime MU brand, with countless versions of PC, web and mobile games released over the years. The development team emphasized that while MU Origin (developed by a Chinese partner) focusing on optimizing PC games for mobile devices, MU Archangel will create a mobile game that closely resembles a PC game. Webzen also plans a cross-platform release, such as PC, for the title.
Although no screenshots are available, Webzen claims that its user interface (UI) and core systems MU Online was originally transferred to MU Archangel, and the game will be less dependent on gacha mechanics. To reduce the burden of “plowing and hoe”, the game will have an offline welfare mode. MU Archangel is expected to start the Closed Beta phase in Korea next month. Another mobile MMORPG, R2 Mobile (based on the R2 game Reign of Revolution) is also in development. Although R2 is no longer active in the western market, the game is still very popular in Asia, especially Korea.
