Microsoft reveals the advantage of the next generation Xbox over PS5

As the next-generation consoles are about to be revealed in 2020, Microsoft continues to drip information about its darling Project Scarlett. Regardless of the configuration correlation, Microsoft believes that its console has at least one advantage over the competition.

In a recent interview, head of Microsoft Game Studios Matt Booty shared more information about Project Scarlett and Microsoft’s focus more on homegrown games. When asked specifically about the game library for Scarlett, Booty said the system will likely have the most games of any Xbox, thanks to backwards compatibility.

Specifically, as consumers invest in the Xbox brand, Microsoft wants you to know that it’s bringing all the old content to the new consoles. Any game that runs on Xbox One will continue to run on Project Scarlett without needing another operating system to run, using the new API system or anything else. This includes all games developed by Microsoft prior to Project Scarlett. Games like Grounded or Bleeding Edge will be playable from day one of the next-gen console’s release.

Booty also confirmed 15 Microsoft studios are involved in the development of various projects. Microsoft aims to have a new game every three to four months, starting next year. This is clearly an accelerated move by Microsoft because the Xbox One previously could not guarantee the number of “original” games when compared to rivals Sony and Nintendo. With the recent acquisition of studios and efforts to get out of the way of the Xbox One, Microsoft seems to be more than ready for Project Scalet.

Project Scarlett is expected to be released during Christmas 2020.
