MIBR ranked in top 10 CSPPA despite disastrous performance

The rankings of the Professional Counter-Strike Players Association (CSPPA) really need a lot of revision, especially the MIBR rankings.

Rankings are available in every sport, from the top 10 best mid players in Dota 2 to the strongest team right now. But the CSGO rankings are much more meaningful. They are used to determine which teams are invited to the biggest tournaments in the world, which teams must go from qualifying as well as which teams are not given a chance to participate. At the current time of CSGO esports, multiple leaderboards co-exist and they all use different assessments to determine team rankings. But the CSPPA rankings, used to invite teams to tournaments like FLASHPOINT, have serious problems.

MIBR has dropped on other charts for the past several months and is at the bottom of its form. According to the HLTV rankings, which is widely considered to be reliable for CSGO ratings, MIBR is currently ranked 21st in the world. In other rankings, like Valve’s regional ranking, this team is currently vacant with two Majors coming up. But for some reason, the CSPPA rankings are ranking MIRB 8th in the world, even the team is currently standing above Astralis, Ninjas in Pajamas and Complexity.

MIBR ranks higher than many other strong teams

While the CSPPA says the rankings are sent to “many teams” and tournament organizers for reference, it’s important to note that MIBR’s performance in recent months has been disastrous. In the past many tournaments, MIBR has not reached 5th place. They lost to many opponents with no reason to lose, including unknown teams like Wislka Krakow, PACT, and Galaxy Racer. MIBR also lost to teams that were considered underpowered before such as forZe, MAD Lions or Copenhagen Flames.

While MIBR players, including IGL Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, defended the team’s reputation to the point of disrupting even their critics, CSPPA still places MIBR in the top 10. Despite their actions Bad sports is not a reason to rank lower, but with MIBR, when they continuously lose to weaker teams, of course relegation is obvious. Yet for some reason MIBR is still in the top 10 of the CSPPA rankings while the better performing teams are ranked below them.

Results of the last 13 games of MIBR:

  • Copenhagen Flame – 1-2
  • Singularity match – Win 2-1
  • Copenhagen Flames – Lose 1-2
  • Galaxy Racer – Lose 0-2
  • PACT match – Lose 16-13
  • MAD Lions – Lose 0-2
  • Game Gambit Youngers – Win 2-0
  • match forZe – Lose 0-2
  • Battle HellRaisers – Win 16-10
  • Wisla Krakow – Lose 1-2
  • FaZe match – Lose 1-2
  • match G2 – Lose 0-2
  • FURIA match – Lose 0-2
  • Liquid match – Lost 0-2

Finally, fans need to know why MIBR ranks so high in CSPPA. Teams that are ranked below MIBR also want to know why as their chances of participating in the tournament also depend on that ranking. This call needs to be answered or it will soon get out of control and then the reputation and image of MIBR will really lose even if they themselves have not done anything.
