The Legendary Edition is a complete overhaul of the series focusing on visuals and fidelity, and adds 4K Ultra HD with HDR support to all three games.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the revamped version of BioWare’s iconic sci-fi trilogy, launches on May 14. Gamers will be able to experience the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through same-day forward compatibility.
Legendary Edition is a complete overhaul focused on visuals and fidelity of the series, and adds 4K Ultra HD with HDR support to all three games. The developers at BioWare upgraded the majority of the characters, smoothed the textures, and added features like Ambient Occlusion and Subsurface scattering to make the environment more vivid. The result of this upgrade is 3 games with beautiful graphics despite being relatively old.
Legendary Edition also addresses a number of complaints from longtime fans of the series. For example, the elevator ride times in the first two games were ridiculously long since they were used in place of loading screens. The 52-second elevator ride in the original Mass Effect has been reduced to 14 seconds in the Legendary Edition.
In addition, the PC version will support gamepads, 21:9 widescreen settings, and DirectX 11. The first Mass Effect focuses less on the shooter array than the later installments, so the developers have Combat tweaks in the first game to feel smoother, including improved gun zoom and HUD.
Mass Effect 3’s ending was controversial, with many players feeling like their decisions throughout the trilogy didn’t have a big impact. A few months after season 3’s release, BioWare released the Extended Cut DLC pack, which adds cutscenes and backgrounds to the original ending, giving more weight to player choices. This is the ending that will be available in Legendary Edition.
Last but not least, the standard version of the female Shepard that appeared on the box of Mass Effect 3 has been ported into all three games and the character creation system has been expanded.
Overall, with the above upgrades, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a game not to be missed this summer. Currently, the trio of games can be owned for VND 1,743,000 on Steam.
