After Days Gone landed on PC, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that there will be more PlayStation exclusive games coming to PC.
In an interview with GQ, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said it was a “frank decision” to release more PC versions of first-party games.
The interview also includes an important detail that Days Gone will be the first game to be ported to PC in Spring 2021.
“I think a few things have changed,” Ryan replied when asked why the company changed its release strategy. “We’ve found that it’s early 2021, and our development studios and the games they create are at their best ever. Especially since the second half of the PS4 cycle, our studios have created some amazing, top-notch games.”
After unexpectedly bringing Horizon: Zero Dawn to PC last August, PlayStation is changing its business strategy.
Having the opportunity to introduce great games to a wider audience and realize the economics of game development is not always straightforward. The cost of making games increases with each cycle, as the caliber of IP has improved. In addition, the ease of providing for non-console users has evolved. So it was a pretty simple decision for us to make.”
In other news, Sony has announced this weekend it will air a 30-minute State Of Play show. The show will feature 10 games for PS4 and PS5, and will include some new game announcements.
