Looks like a joke, but it’s a great analysis tool

With teams, roster changes once announced often bring positive thoughts. New players are the bridge to a better future. This change will take the team to the next level. However, when we talk about FaZe’s April Fools transfer, it paints a different picture.

Richard “Xizt” Landström was added to the FaZe Clan roster on April 1st. Everyone found this to be confusing and silly. Xizt takes the position of Olof “olfmeister” Kajbjer. No one believes that this Swedish guy is considered the optimal choice to stand in the position of olofmeister. Both are Swedes, both former Major kings, but are far apart in the gaming world.

There are a few points to consider before we dive into this roster analysis. People don’t know how long the olofmeister will be off. We don’t know if Xizt will continue to be a key member for FaZe. No one knows if Xizt will continue to hold his place at FaZe when olof returns.

Obviously, everyone is looking forward to Xizt appearing at the upcoming Marseille tournament, and more importantly, participating in dramatic online matches in the ESL Pro League. FaZe is currently 7th in the EPL, just 1-2 wins ahead of G2/HellRaisers/Heroic in the rankings. FaZe’s next EPL matches against Xizt will be the most important factor in determining if they have a month out of IEM Sydney or will attend the EPL LAN Finals later this May. Although Xizt is only playing temporarily, this influence will linger for many months to come. We’ll likely see FaZe sit idle for a month before returning to LAN while other teams look for opportunities to overtake them. This is entirely possible if FaZe lose in Marseille, which means their only chance of getting a good result is at IEM Sydney.

Xizt does not have such flexibility.

Similarly, we see karrigan as an above average player who is always ready to do anything he is asked to do. If FaZe is the team criticized for having too many chefs in the restaurant or too many stars competing to shine, Xizt is not one of them. FaZe’s problem is that the team can’t perform as expected, even though there are no poor links in the squad.

Whether Xizt has a successful support or not will tell us important information about FaZe. If NiKo and GuardiaN and Rain both perform well and become the main superstar, sub-superstar and backup superstar as we expect – there is nothing to complain about. Continuing to look at the support position, if FaZe needs to be replaced, they can look for a support player with a similar role, but with better personal skills and more reputation, for example Keith “NAF” Markovic or Alexandre “Bodyy” Pianaro. No matter how FaZe plays against Xizt, this will be an interesting point for us to analyze FaZe.
