Liquid beat Cloud9 to win cs_summit 2

Liquid won cs_summit’s second tournament after beating Cloud9 3-2 in the final.

In the finals, Liquid started Train with an aggressive A. Cloud9 seemed to have won that round, but Liquid’s nitro won a 1v2 clutch to give the team the lead.

That round victory marked a great journey for the horses, they constantly grasped the tempo of the game and gave themselves a 6-0 advantage. It was only at this point that Cloud9 started to stop the Terrorists, surprisingly replacing them with a very weak buy round and mainly thanks to the treble from autimatic. Until the end of the first half, C9 continued to hold on to their defense and did not allow the opponent to have an economic advantage, shortening the lead to 8-7.

On T, Cloud9 won the pistol round and the next anti-eco round to take the lead for the first time. But it didn’t last long as Liquid quickly bounced up and put pressure on, winning 6 of the last 7 rounds.

As victory gradually slipped out of hand, Cloud9 gained momentum and won 4 more rounds to equalize. The last two rounds of the round officially divided the hill between the two teams and the match entered Overtime. Here, Liquid won 2 rounds per overtime to pocket the first map for themselves 19-17.

The next map was Mirage, where Cloud9 revived with a 5-0 lead on the T side. But Liquid held up a solid defense in the second half of the first half, with a surprising 9-6 score going to steel’s army.

Thanks to the mental advantage, Liquid won the pistol round in phase A, with a successful 1v2 NAF clutch. They continued to sweep Cloud9 until round 21, a quadruple from tarik in B gave their team their first score in the second half.

Cloud9 went on to score another round, closing the gap to 8-14. But Liquid was calm, winning the remaining two rounds to lead 2-0 for the whole series.

Eager to finish the finals early on the Cache map, Liquid won the first pistol round, but left with a loophole, Stewie2K got 3 kills with Deagle.

That round gave Cloud9 an overwhelming run, as the team won 13 rounds in a row before Liquid could respond with the final round to make the score 2-13.

Liquid knew they needed to play near-perfect in the second half to close this huge gap. The team started off like a dream on CT’s side, winning 9 out of 10 rounds. But the comeback did not happen, Stewie2K continued to clutch 1v2 to bring the team to the map point. RUSH then won an important 1v1 situation in the following round to bring the game to the fourth map.

Going to Overpass, Liquid took the first 2 rounds before being dealt with by RUSH with Deagle in the force-buy, he got himself 3 lives in that round. The game then went on quite messy between the two sides and then Liquid won 6 of the last 8 rounds, leading 9-6.

Cloud9 raised hopes that after stopping Liquid’s B push in the pistol round, RUSH got himself 3 lives. The Major champions won the next two rounds to bring the score to 9-9, but they lost momentum when the T side started to have money to build guns. Liquid controlled the money so well and with NAF in top form, the team quickly finished the map after losing exactly one round for the rest of the half.
