It seems that fans of the card game series will not have to wait long to experience the game Legends of Runeterra. Today, Riot Games has officially revealed its plans for players to get their hands on Legends of Runeterra as soon as possible. At the moment, the game is in the closed beta process and will end soon when Riot officially announces the open beta. The Open Beta phase will start on January 24.
According to information from Riot, the game Legends of Runeterra was first announced at the end of 2019. Since then, the number of people who have signed up for the closed beta period has been higher than expected. This is what made Riot decide the open beta phase is a top priority.
Along with the launch of the Legends of Runeterra open beta, several new systems will also be added to the game. One of the biggest systems added to the game is the rank mode. Players will experience the game through the process of climbing ranks from iron, bronze, gold, platinum and many higher ranks, similar to in League of Legends. Riot will also allow players to challenge their friends, the list of friends will be transferred from League of Legends.
At the end of the interview Riot details the first stages of in-game purchases. As was announced at the beginning, Riot will not sell random card packs like other free card games. Instead, Riot will provide many ways for players to own them during the game experience. In addition, Riot will start by selling Guardians, they are cute creatures that appear on the table and show the expressions you want during the game.
Riot also mentioned the Legends of Runeterra open beta plan to take place in the first 12 months. That plan includes introducing new sets, bringing new “Regions” to the game. Each set adds new champions to regions in the game. Decks in Legends of Runeterra can be mixed and matched to set regions, but there are only 6 champions, so each new region can change the meta completely. There are many more secrets for players to discover.
Legends of Runeterra is expected to launch in the first half of 2020 on PC and mobile.
