Learn the extremely rare Fire and Ice textures in CSGO

Knives in CSGO are always appreciated by gamers, but the Fire and Ice motifs on Marble Fade knives are extremely popular.

What makes the Fire and Ice motif so rare is that it only appears in four knives: Karambit, Bayonet, Flip Knife, and Gut Knife. Flip Knife and Gut Knife are not very popular. That means that Karambit or Bayonet knives with this pattern are actually worth much more. Talon Knife has several skins that look like Fire and Ice textures, but in reality it is not recognized by CSGO knife players as the correct texture.

Fire and Ice textures are the rarest knife skins in CSGO

Marble Fade knives show three main colors on the blade: Yellow, red and blue. How much each color occupies on the tool is determined by a random number called the pattern index. Indexes are randomly selected when knives are opened from crates, and only certain indexes are true Fire and Ice textures. In that motif, the only colors that appear are red and blue, hence the famous name Fire and Ice. More importantly, the knife must see these two colors on the “main side”, i.e. wear facing you.

In the image above, there is no yellow on the Karambit blade so this is considered the correct Fire and Ice motif. Some Fire and Ice textures can have a bit of gold on the handle and are often referred to as “Max Fake Fire and Ice”. They are more common than simple red and blue knives (ie pure Fire and Ice), but even with a little gold they are still extremely rare.

This difference can significantly affect the knife price. This is seen in Talon Knife, the skin can’t find the pure Fire and Ice texture without a bit of gold on the blade. Due to this yellow color, Talon cannot have pure Fire and Ice textures.

How to recognize which is the Fire and Ice skin in CSGO

The good news is that there’s an easy way to tell which CSGO knives have the rare Fire and Ice texture. By using the pattern index, called “pattern template” in CSGO game, users can Inspect any tool and compare the pattern index as shown below. Here are the index patterns for Bayoney, Karambit, Flip Knife and Gut Knife that the community has identified as Fire and Ice details:

You can check what the knife’s texture is in the game by Inspecting it and looking at the “pattern index” in the info tab in CSGO’s inspect screen.

This is one of CSGO’s rarest knives and some CSGO knife players will pay a lot of money for a pure Fire and Ice texture. Some people sell it for over $1,000 at third-party sites that sell CSGO skins, making them as expensive as Butterfly Doppler and even the famous AWP Dragon Lore skin.
