Koei Tecmo has just posted a new trailer for Dynasty Warriors 9 with many details about the combat system in the open world. As previously announced, this will be the first Dynasty Warriors version to adopt an open-world system where all activities take place on a single map of the Three Kingdoms.
Players can climb to the top of the tower and scout the surrounding areas to see what’s going on. Players can teleport to areas of their territory and places you’ve been to before. The game also adds an autorun feature, letting the character run on its own, while you can admire the surrounding scenery.
Players can ride horses, and there are many breeds of horses that can be purchased and put in the stables. There will be some special horse breeds that must complete specific requirements to unlock, such as Lu Bu’s Red Tho horse and Luu Bei’s Di Lo horse. Each horse has its own power and level up by running over long distances or defeating the opponent while riding.
The battles in Dynasty Warriors 9 are mainly for territory control. The player can rush straight at the enemy champion, but it will be extremely difficult unless the player gains strongholds for his army before capturing the barracks, thereby reducing the difficulty of the level.
Defeating enemy champions and completing quests will earn you ‘Scrolls’ to craft weapons and items. When collecting the same number of Scrolls, the player can craft items based on the list of materials in the Scroll. The strongest weapons can only be crafted from ‘Scrolls’.
