Teamfight Tactics is coming to League of Legends in patch 9.14, and most players are excited about it. Before the ranked mode is available on the official server, Riot will give a brief introduction to the system and how it works.
Teamfight Tactics’ ranked mode will also be similar to Summoner’s Rift with a few minor changes.
“You still have the same rank and classification as Summoner’s Rift after each match, and get or decrease the amount of LP points depending on your order.”, according to Riot: “We want your rank in Teamfight Tactics. also matches the current rank on Summoner’s Rift, no matter how similar the LP points here will be a bit different.”
You will have a lot of LP points if you get to the top 1, and still get LP if you are 4th or higher. Meanwhile, players from 5th place and below will lose LP points.
While the two ranking mechanisms are similar, there are a few differences that set the two systems apart. The biggest difference is that there will be no promotion sequence in the Truth Arena. This means that when you reach 100 points you will automatically move up to a higher rank.
And if you’re down to 0 points, which obviously happens, you’ll be relegated to the bottom tier. Drops and promotions will become more frequent, in the absence of promotions and saves.
The queue in Teamfight Tactics has a few differences as well. You can invite up to 5 friends if they’re all Gold or below, and up to 3 when they’re Platinum. Ranked rewards will also be available, but Riot has not announced anything about this yet.
Teamfight Tactics’ ranking system will be released this month with the 9.14 update.
