FMarkus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye will be joining FaZe Clan.
This information was released by Polish esports website cybersport.pl. The Danish player will replace Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras in FaZe Clan’s CSGO roster. The former North and Astralis rifler left North this year as ESL Road to Rio was underway. He said he had health problems and forced North to use coach Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtsson as a stand-in.
This transfer decision comes after many months of poor FaZe performance when using the international CSGO roster, since Olof “olofmeister” Gustafsson retired on May 25. While the organization plans to choose Bymass Olof’s replacement, cybersport.pl confirmed Bymas’ time with the squad was over after they finished 11th in the second Regional Ranking CS Summit 6 in Europe. Neither Kjaerbye nor the FaZe organization have yet confirmed the transfer information, but FaZe hinted at the big announcement on its Twitter account.

Kjærbye’s illness as well as leaving North cost the organization 20% of its Regional Ranking points. This score is used to determine the right to participate in the CSGO Major organized by ESL. Despite the signals that the ESL One Rio Major will be cancelled, the organizers say the Major will still take place.

Kjærbye was most popular when he was in the original Astralis lineup and scored a rating of 1.02. It’s unclear how FaZe and Kjærbye talked, but it seems they did when Kjærbye announced his official departure from North on June 10. He was also on the Astralis squad that won the ELEAGUE Atlanta Major in 2017, with a separate MVP award for his efforts.
Kjærbye will join FaZe just before the team’s next tournament, ESL One Cologne, which kicks off on August 18.
