Instructions to increase FPS for PUBG

The storm from Bluehole house called PUBG came as a fever for gamers all over the world. And to be able to experience this game, you must own a PC that is not cheap at all. However, PUBG still makes many great PCs bored with its graphics, here is how to increase fps for PUBG so you can enjoy the game in the smoothest way.

Configuration

The game uses Unreal Engine 4, but most gamers still set it to low based on Minimum configuration of this game:

Of course, your PC can be much more powerful than that. So we decided to test the above configuration with a Mid-range configuration:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k

  • GPU: MSI GTX 970 (4GB)

  • Memory: 8GB RAM

You should remember that PUBG is still in the Early Access stage. Updates, patches and drivers will be constantly updated to change settings and add many other graphic effects.

Graphics Settings

We will go straight to the settings that need tweaking, but the game doesn’t say what these settings are for. And in some of those settings there will be settings that affect the way you play the game, we will go through these settings and highlight them.

First we use the resolution 1920×1080. PUBG supports resolutions up to 4k (3840×2160), but this depends on your device and even high-end PCs will be quite troublesome.

Anti-aliasing

Create smoothness for objects in the game. Turning it off you will see aliasing on the objects in the game but it will increase your FPS. We recommend to high for powerful machines, you don’t get too busy between “High” and “Ultra” because they really don’t make much of a difference.

Shadow

It’s the shadow on the ground, I recommend you keep it as low as “Medium” because “Low” and “Very Low” will not be able to render the character’s shadow. You can see the opponent’s shadow in the buildings as well as can detect the direction of the opponent’s movement. It can make the difference between life and death, especially if you see the character’s shadow before seeing the character’s body. Leaving “High” and “Very High” will be very heavy, so in my opinion, it is best to leave “Medium”.

Foliage tchange the granularity of individual bushes and grasses, but it won’t affect the number of bushes and grasses that appear in the game. It also doesn’t affect the grass and dust render distance. Disabling this setting won’t do any good.

View Distance should be maxed because it will help you see things in distant locations. It is extremely beneficial if you have a scope to see everything around from a safe position. It will not affect the rendering distance of other players’ bodies.

Post-processing including ambient and lighting effects. If you turn it off it will improve a lot making your eyes more focused and not disturbed by ambient effects and light. Setting “High” will add depth of field, and “Very High” will add a vivid light effect like sunlight.

Effect determines the image detail of gun shops and explosives. The higher the better, but it will consume a lot of the machine’s resources when you set “High” to encourage “Medium”.

Texture Improved surface detail. It’s pretty simple so we recommend “Medium” because “Low” looks pretty bad.

Screen scale If you set it to 100% it will give an image that matches your resolution and downscale will cause the image to display below your resolution. Although it makes the game look better, I won’t elaborate on it since our aim is to increase FPS.

Montion Blur create blur effect when moving camera mistakenly create realistic speed effect, mainly according to your preference. And on top of that, you want V-Sync off unless you’re suffering from image breakage.

Game performance

After careful thought and experimentation, here are the game settings that we have concluded:

  • Anti-aliasing: High

  • Post-processing: Low

  • Shadows: Medium

  • Texture: High

  • Effects: Medium

  • Foliage: High

  • View Distance: Ultra

With these settings you will be wondering what your FPS will be. Through a solo battle in normal weather conditions reached 50-70FPS. It seems that our settings are adequate in terms of graphics quality as well as performance.

The 60 second wait before the game is the time to know if the game experience will be extremely good or extremely bad. If your device reaches 40 FPS during this period, you will probably enjoy the game smoothly.

If you want to build a cheap PC to test PUBG. All you need is a quad-core AMD Ryzen and GTX 1050 CPU at 1080p, Medium settings and an FPS that fluctuates around 30-50. Even if a high-end PC is equipped with AMD’s RX Vega or Nvidia’s GTX 1070 you will still be thinking whether to raise shadows and Anti-Aliasing because they affect your FPS, especially on monitors that have large resolution.

Once again I want to say that PUBG is still in Early Access mode so the game will soon be improved and optimized thanks to the updates. And the game has errors is inevitable, although PUBG is not the game with the best graphics, it still has demanding graphics, so the game will have some problems with optimization.

Hope the article will be useful from this article and can find the best game settings for your PC. If your computer is still having problems, it may be time to downgrade a bit more to get it running smoothly, but I sincerely recommend that if that doesn’t work anymore, maybe it’s time to buy a new PC.
