Instructions for using Discord – voice chat and communication platform for gamers

Communication is the deciding factor in team games. But PUBG, Dota, CSGO, … and billions of other games don’t hear much about Skype or teamspeak anymore. Now, everywhere we see communication with each other using Discord. Room PUBG discrod is rampant.

What is Discord?

Why use Discord instead of Skype or Teamspeaker?

In general, Discord is designed as a cozy room. The people who entered that room all shared a common purpose or interest. That helps them open up and connect with each other.
In terms of games alone, You don’t have to go to the net to fight for the computer to sit with your comrades. You can re-share pictures etc… the last game with your friends. You connect more with new friends in the same room.
In addition, Discord also protects privacy. You can turn off the Mic when you want. you also mute this person if you upset them.

Access Discord

Discord has 2 popular usage platforms:
Use directly on the web: suitable platform if you need quick access to information from the group. Just the User name is enough to use it. Less functionality than app. Well, you can’t access this platform on your phone.
Use via computer software or phone: Must create an account (of course)
1. Go to the following website: https://discordapp.com/ you will see the 2 most prominent items

On the left is to download the Discord software to your device, on the right is to access the web platform.

2. Click download for windows

-> will download an exe file to your computer. Launching this file we get as shown:

Wait for the process to complete. Once this interface appears, you are done with the installation

3. Create a Discord account:

For web platforms:
Like I said, you just need to enter the Username

Then click on the arrow next to it, you will be redirected to the following page:

You will be asked to enter your Email. If you connect to email, you have full access to the app. But you can skip by clicking on an empty area on the screen. So you have access to Discord on web.
Use the app
To take advantage of the full functionality, you need to use the app, and the app requires you to have an account.
Below the big white Login text with a blue background, click on the word Register. You will be redirected to the following page:

4. Enter the information:

Email: this will be the email you use to log in the next time you use Discord.
Username: your name is visible to other users.
Password: … don’t say hen.
Click continue when finished.

5. You will move on to the actual user authentication process. Including:

Email verification: Access your email, if you don’t see it, click the resend button in the orange box as shown below.
Click verify Email. When this interface appears, you have completed the registration.

If you’ve never used instant messenger apps… Discord looks pretty confusing.
However, once you understand the interface, ahhhhh…. So Discord is as simple and cool as that.

– The left side of the screen is where the most recent messages will be displayed. Of course the message comes from the server, which group you have joined.
– The left column displays both a list of friends and a list of servers and groups you join. Depends on which screen you are working on.
Below these lists are your usernames and profile pictures. Your status as Onl/Offline. Microphone, headphone are all displayed here.
– The center section will display the chat content.
– The right part, if you are joining a server, this will be the place to display members and their positions in the server. If you’re messaging one-to-one, you won’t see it :v.

Basic Discord settings:

To tweak Discord to your liking, first click on the icon: Gear (located next to the head phone icon, the profile picture area and your username)
– Change Username, email, avatar, password: My account
– Connect accounts (Twitch, Steam, Facebook etc…). Grant application access: Connections
– Change the permission to add friends of other people with you:
– Change the display of images, links, emeticons: Text and Images
– Tweak voice chat. Choose hands-free mode or, press the button to activate the mic: Voice and Video
– Tweak message notifications: Notification
– Assign keyboard shortcuts: Keybind
– Skins: Appearance
– Show you are playing the game: Games
– Select language: Language
– Activated “streamer mode“. Useful when streaming games on twitch or youtube.
– Activate 2 layers of account security: My Account

Mute object (user, group, channel, server)

A community is crowded with no quality control, there will be this and that. It is essential not to want to be bothered with an object
Selecting Do Not Disturb mode will mite all messages from notifications. Unless you are tagged face to face.
To mute an object, right-click on the object’s name and check the mute button. Do the same thing again to unmute.
To mute a channel. Right click on the channel and select mute. You can also click the alarm at the top of the screen. Do the same to unmute.
To mute a server, right-click the server and select Server mute.
