Instructions for Control Warlock to climb rank, winrate 66%

Hmm, well played.

Today I would like to write a guide for a fairly strong deck in the current meta, which is Control Warlock. Warlock currently has not been properly evaluated in terms of strength, for example the best warlock deck according to tempo storm is in tier 3. Of course, their meta snapshots are often sida, but it also reflects relatively accurately the meta situation. . Everyone knows that Shotgun Priest is currently the top deck in the meta, followed by Tempo Rogue and Jade Druid, etc. Control Warlock has all the tools to deal with these decks, and if you play correctly, winrate can reach about 60%, even 70% with Druid.

I introduce to you the deck created by JainaShot, a pro friend playing in the EU. Some requirements when playing this deck:

  1. Enough dust :v this is not a cheap deck, even the version with cheaper tech cards will cost ~100000 dust. There are some cards that must be present, otherwise the deck will be significantly weakened. I will mention them later.

  2. Have a little experience, as much as possible, playing Control-oriented Warlock decks like Renolock or Handlock. That is, this deck is not for newbies.

Warlock Cards (17 cards)

Neutral Card (13 cards)

The following are detailed instructions for each matchup with classes.

  • Priest:

    • The psychopaths, in my opinion, have two main trends. One is to draw quickly and burn with Velen. The second is to use Elise the Trailblazer, Hemet Jungle Hunter and Archbishop Benedictus, taking the mud to a new level. In common, they are all Raza Priests.

    • Strategy: Win tempo with 4 attack minions, get Geist and Death Knight as soon as possible. The amount of damage taken should not be underestimated, because late game Priest burn is disgusting. You have enough healing, usually, because Geist burns about 3 spells 1 mana of it. Alexstrasza can be used as a defense if health is too low, or as an attack if the opponent has used Greater Healing Potion. If you go to fatigue and it only has ~5 cards in your hand, you have 20+ health left, the probability of winning is very high.

    • Mulligan: keep all Twilight Drake, Skulking Geist. Minions 4 attacks have always been extremely annoying for Priests, even though they now have Pint-Size Potion and Shadow Word Horror combos.

  • Druid

    • Like Priest, Druid has two strong decks today, but with very different styles, which are Jade Druid and Aggro Druid.

    • Tactic

      • Jade Druid: Win tempo with two dragons and demons. Geist is a win condition, in addition, if the tempo is strong enough, you can also end the game early. You have to watch out for their ability to burn with hp, Feral Rage or Swipe.

      • Aggro Druid: give cards according to the curve, don’t let your opponent have 4+ minions on the table. Watch out for the possibility of reorganizing the board with Living Mana. If Aggro Druid loses a table, there is almost no burst, so you should prioritize clearing the table before healing.

    • Mulligan

      • Jade Druid: Twilight Drake, Doomsayer, Skulking Geist.

      • Aggro Druid: Mistress of Mixtures, Voidwalker, Doomsayer, Defile.

  • Rogue

    • Currently in the most crowded meta is Tempo Rogue, so I will only talk about this deck. A Tempo deck based on pirate synergy and quality monsters, bursting with Leelololololroy Jenkins, Coldblood and Shadowstep

    • Tactics: clear the board and prevent your opponent from setting up a big table. Life and death must clear the opponent’s board on turn 6, otherwise turn 7 it curves to Bonemare which is very annoying. This deck does not have many draws, if it runs out of hands, the chances of winning are much greater. All if you have more than 0 health left.

    • Mulligan: Mistress of Mixtures, Voidwalker, Defile, Doomsayer.

  • Hunter

    • Midrange Hunter is back, and it’s a pretty good matchup for Control Warlock. Like Tempo Rogue, this deck is strong on curve with relatively few draws and strong burst ability.

    • Tactics: like confronting Tempo Rogue. Beware that even when it runs out of hands, it can still pull HP.

    • Mulligan: like Tempo Rogue.

  • Shaman

    • Currently in the meta there is only Token/Evolve Shaman with a pretty similar fighting style: set up the board with small monsters, make them bigger and then throw Bloodlust to finish. This is a very good matchup for Control Warlock with strong clear board ability.

    • Tactics: can let the opponent take the table, but must clear before turn 5 otherwise it will produce a very difficult Death Knight. Try to get Geist early to destroy its Evolve, from then on the match will be quite simple with high card value in your late game.

    • Mulligan: like Tempo Rogue, can keep more Hellfire if no Defile.

  • Mage

  • Warlock

    • There are three versions of Warlock currently, with the gameplay not too different, that is Millock, Handlock and Control. Mirror market is obviously 50/50, Handlock is under and Millock is on Control. I still only give general instructions for meeting Warlock I forgot there is Zoolock too but it’s quite similar to Tempo Rogue so I’ll stop :v

    • Tactics: tap

    • Mulligan: Twilight Drake, Doomsayer, Defile (watch out for Zoolock). You can keep the Death Knight, if you think like you JainaShot, but I don’t recommend doing so :v

  • Paladins

    • Popular now is the Midrange Paladin with murloc synergy. Again, pretty much like Tempo Rogue.

    • Tactics: same as above

    • Mulligan: same as above

  • Warrior

    • If I could choose my favorite class in the game, I would choose Warrior. I don’t have cancer 🙂 but some other players do, so I still have to write :v I played about 50 matches in this deck and didn’t meet any Fatigue Warrior friends, so I can only talk about Pirate Warrior.

    • Strategy: Pirate Warrior has weakened, but is still strong. I’m all sml but still trying to write this :v don’t talk much, clear the board and prevent opp from staging the board. Don’t tap too much, it won’t heal enough.

    • Mulligan: Mulligan hard for Doomsayer, Voidwalker and Mistress of Mixtures.

Several card options for decks

  • Medivh the Guardian: irreplaceable.

  • The Lich King: a very powerful card, but you can use Ysera without him.

  • Alexstrasza: the red dragon queen helps me win 30% of the matches from the losing position, I think this is a must have card.

  • Bloodmage Thalnos: can be replaced with Tainted Zealot, but note that the setup conditions are more difficult.

  • Skulking Geist: Hmm that’s pretty important, but not without it. However, I still recommend it, very useful in Priest, Shaman and especially Druid bets.

Tech card

  • Golakka Crawler: If you encounter too many Rogues or Warriors.

  • Dirty Rat: sometimes the mouse can pull some nasty minions from the opponent’s hand, for example Archmage Antonidas.

  • Stonehill Defender: OK, good deal with aggro but not very useful with control.

  • Bonemare: Hmm, that’s fine. But usually this deck clears the board without setting the tempo too strong. However, it will still be useful when encountering aggro, low health but has turned the table.

Link deck and string for you:
