Valve looks like it will change updates in Dota 2 in a completely new way.

IceFrog has just announced to fans about update 7.27. On the developer forum, IceFrog said the plan goes like what happened with 7.26.

“We plan to release 7.27 in the next few weeks, with a focus on item changes, economy (money earned) and general tweaks. Then there will be a change of focus on heroes,” IceFrog said.

7.26 is completely separate from the usual update.

Traditionally, each major patch radically changes every aspect of the game, from hero and item level micros, to macro changes to XP and gold earned in the game. From there, Valve will release small updates to keep the game properly balanced.

7.26 changes that, as Valve applies mass changes at the macro level, including changes to how stats and kill streak work, with no adjustments to items or heroes. Those micro changes occurred in subsequent patches, starting with update 7.26a.

Dota 2 update 7.27 will follow that plan, changing items, economics and other aspects of the game, while we wait to see what impact they have on the hero and item balance. High-potential heroes will be adjusted in subsequent minor updates.

Dota 2 update 7.27 will have any changes?

Update 7.26 mostly received negative feedback. Bounty gold was reduced and the kill streak changed to discourage active play. Game results become slower in high ranked matches. This, combined with the main stat side effect being removed, impacts the duration of each game in the game.

Chances are that these changes will revert to the original, or tweak in some way, to help Dota 2 play more proactively and move faster, as fans enjoyed in 2018 and 2019.

As for the hero tweaks, split push has become the obvious tactic of choice in Dota 2. Nature’s Prophet, Beastmaster and Lycan have been the most contested heroes in draft at recent tournaments, with three names. This one came first in the BLAST Bounty Hunt. Maybe this will be changed in 7.27.
