How to Automatically CC or BCC in Gmail and Outlook

Gmail and Outlook users can automate that process if the need arises. Then all your emails will be automatically CCed or BCCed. So how to auto CC or BCC in Gmail and Outlook?

1. Automatically CC or BCC in Gmail

To automatically BCC or CC in Gmail, you will need to use an extension. This feature is not available in Gmail, and many 3rd party extensions require quite a bit of permission to access your email.

BCC Me for Gmail (not yet compatible with the new Gmail) requires access to read and change data on Gmail and access your entire browsing history. The utility that requires the least permissions is Auto BBC for Gmail from CloudHQ which, unlike other options, does not access browsing history outside of the Gmail domain.

Once you’ve installed the extension you want and have access to your Gmail account, you can create a rule by following these steps:

Step 1: Click the button Compose to create a new email.

Step 2: Click on envelope icon next to the submit button.

Step 3: In the dialog box that just opened, click Add new rules.

Step 4: Below the item When emails are sent from, you will see the email address already available there. In the drop-down menu directly below, you select to everyone, but not to and leave this field blank. Then automatically select BCC (or CC if you prefer) and enter your email address.

Step 5: Click Save Rule.

If you decide you no longer want to use this extension, you can uninstall it and revoke access to your Gmail account in the settings. Gmail Sign-in and Security which you can access at myaccount.google.com/permissions .

If you’re not a Chrome user or don’t want to give third-party access to your email, a good workaround to automate BCC is to use Gmail’s forwarding and filtering features.

2. Auto CC or BCC in Outlook

Outlook users can automatically CC or BCC themselves by using the feature Rules of this email client. The process is done as follows:

Step 1: In the tab Homeyou click on arrow under Rules and choose Manage Rules and Alerts > New Rule.

Step 2: Below the item Start from a blank ruleyou click Apply rule on messages I send > Next.

Step 3: If you want to apply this rule on all sent emails, then just click on next again and Yes in the pop-up window. If you want to be more selective, you can use the criteria listed to select only certain types of emails to add this automation to.

Step 4: In Step 1 of this window, you choose Cc the message to people or public group. In Step 2, you click on the link people or public group. In schools Bigyou enter your email address and click next (If you don’t want to make CC public to someone, you can mimic 1 BCC by selecting Move a copy to the specified folder in Step 1 and click the link Specified Folder and select your inbox.)

Step 5: Again, you can add optional exceptions if you don’t want the rule to be applied on certain emails.

Step 6: You can then enter a name for your rule and make sure it’s checked Turn on this rule.

Step 7: Finally click finish to complete the setup process.
