Hearthstone: Strong decks worth checking out after the February nerf update

February has passed for more than half a month, and we have somewhat adapted to the changes after the last update.

The cards were nerfed on February 5, leaving some gamers confused. A lot of the dominant decks in the meta since December were hit hard by this nerf. And we have had enough time to explore stronger decks after the last balance. Here are a few decks worth checking out in this rank climb.

Cube Warlock

Cube Warlock has long been a strong Control deck for this class and is fun to play. However, in recent months, this deck has fallen behind other Control decks in Rastakhan’s Rumble.

Until now, this expansion has not favored Control decks much, except for OTK Paladin and Control Priest. This meta is dominated by decks like Spell Hunter and Odd Paladin, which ‘raise’ too quickly and most Control decks can’t keep up. But since these decks have been nerfed, a lot of the old Control archetypes have returned.

The latest version of Cube Lock has the same gameplay as before. You’ll be using low cost removal cards like Defile and Hellfire to keep the table under control long enough to unleash a few Demons. If you’re lucky, you can summon the Voidlord with the Skull of the Man’ari soon.

Once the table is full of Demons, the opponent will lament when they cannot break through this defensive wall. Then use Bloodreaver Gul’dan to revive all Demons. Opponents not only have to find a way to clean them up, but also worry about your genuine Hero power – slowly stealing your opponent’s blood.

Midrange Hunter

Mirange Hunter is clearly not a bad deck in Rastakhan’s Rumble, but it didn’t appear much because Spell Hunter was too strong at that time. Although Hunter’s Mark is nerfed to both Mid Range and Spell Hunter, this card is still beneficial in the deck.

In addition, many of Midrange Hunter’s best decks now appear less and less in the rank. If you play Midrange in the first two months of the expansion, you will surely sigh every time you encounter a Spell Hunter or an Even Paladin. Thanks to the nerf, both Spell Hunter and Even Paladin have decreased significantly.

Midrange Hunter is also effective against hot Control Decks like Resurrect Priest and Cube Warlock. While Midrange doesn’t control the tempo of the game as much as Spellhunter, it can still control the game later in the game.

Cards like Deathstalker Rexxar and Savannah Highmare create great value that makes it difficult for your opponent to flip if they’ve spent a lot of resources. If you’ve played the main Spell Hunter, then try Midrange because they have many of the same cards.

Malygos Druid

After the Druid tractor nerf fell off in early December, fans of the class were left disappointed. Shortly after streamer and pro David “Dog” Caero used Undatakah Druid to rank 1 in NA, in the first week of the expansion, the class was heavily nerfed.

Wild Grown and Nourish are the two most powerful and necessary cards of the Druid. Both have mana cost increased by 1, slowing down Druid’s gameplay.

This class almost disappeared from the ladder for a long time. But fortunately, Malygos Druid has somewhat found a place in the current rank.

What makes Malygos Druid still used today is that the meta is overwhelmed by Hybrid Hunter and Even Paladin. Both of these decks were weak against Druid, but Druid is now rarely used.

Malygos Druid focuses mainly on controlling the table with cards like Swipe and Spreading Plague. It also uses Ultimate Infestation to control the tempo of the match. The win condition with this deck comes from getting Alexstraza, pulling the opponent’s health down to 15. Then, use Malygos and spell damage to finish off the opponent, like the Moonfire card.
