After a week of opening the door to BlizzCon attendees and pre-orders, Blizzard’s new autobattler mode, Hearthstone Battlegrounds, is officially open to all.
Players will receive 3 free packs for completing the legendary quest that requires you to participate in two full Battlegrounds games. But with the appeal of this mode, perhaps the reward is not necessary.
Patch 15.6.2 that Blizzard mentioned last week is also live. This patch will fix some bugs in Battlegrounds.
In the patch notes, community manager Kurt Ocher talks about some of the things Blizzard will add to Battlegrounds in the future. New heroes and minions, including “some very familiar faces”, will be included in the next update, and the stat system will also be expanded. This system will display information such as: top 5 most won heroes, most played heroes, and how many wins you have. Leaderboards have also been updated to include more information on competitors, and the minion selling experience has also been improved, allowing you to sell minions on hand.
Hearthstone Battlegrounds is free for all Hearthstone accounts (it’s also free to create an account). Those who have received card packs from recent Hearthstone expansions (through quests, gold purchases, bundles, events, etc.) will have access to bonus content: 10 packs will display Battlegrounds play details yours in the Battlegrounds home screen; 20 packs will allow you to choose from 3 heroes instead of 2 early game heroes; and 30 packs will let you use special Battlegrounds emotes.
