Apex Legends is undoubtedly one of the hottest games right now. Of course, with any game rapidly gaining popularity like that, it is certain to attract the attention of hackers.
Last month, developer Respawn Entertainment took a firm stance against hacking after the studio banned at least 16,000 players from Apex Legends. Now, it seems that Respawn is ready to go even further in the fight against hacking, especially on PC: not only banning player accounts, now developers banning that computer hardware as well.
According to a report by Daily eSports, many hacking forums say that some people have had their accounts and computers banned from Apex Legends. Also, when Respawn detects multiple accounts using the same computer, they will flag the second account and ban it for 30 minutes. This shows that Respawn is actively anti-hacking to ensure equality for all Apex Legends gamers. However, it seems the players are asking for more. In a Reddit post days ago, they called on Respawn to lock down the region for China, the region that is believed to have the most hackers.
Of course, hacking in video games is nothing new and has long been a problem in online games, with Apex Legends being no exception. If the hardware ban doesn’t work in the long run, there’s a good chance that Respawn will file a criminal complaint, as Epic games did with its Fortnite kid.
