Player GTA Online Climb to the top of the building and walk to the bottom of the roof. Before going there, their character suddenly died, and was transported to the ground below. The same goes for climbing the stairs. There were no bullets or explosions – just a silent death and a displacement of the body. What is happening? In fact, they were lost at the dead point, invisible, unmarked on the map action game GTA Online, causing them to die immediately.

Dead spots aren’t new in GTA Online, but many people don’t know they exist until they accidentally go in there. No warnings or pop ups. The player just needs to walk towards the wall, up a few steps or close to a concrete fence and suddenly find themselves dead. Some players who first encountered this accident speculated that they might have been banished by the “modder”. The correct answer lies in GTA Online.

The death score is the result of Rockstar trying to prevent players from abusing the wall crack incident. Cracking walls is a common practice in shooters GTA Online. You just need a quick search on YouTube will find hundreds of videos about it. This glitch involves players finding points of walls, roofs, and rocks in the map cut off. If properly exploited, those cracks can be used to kill other players & NPCs without harming you at all. These types of exploits have been in GTA V since launch, and have even become commonplace in GTA IV’s Multiplayer mode.

To prevent players from using them, Rockstar essentially creates a dead zone where fraudulent exploits occur. Entering this area, your character is transferred and dies immediately. Most of these areas are on the street, under a bridge, or behind an alley building. Other locations that easily get players lost are the roof near the apartment they own in Los Santos.

While this solution may inadvertently kill some innocent players, it is truly a simple & effective way to block cheat games. A few gamers discovered dead spots while on quests and stealing. Sounds annoying, right? But these dead spots prevent many more disappointing forms of fraud.

The wall & dead spots have also created an interesting relationship between the glitchers and the Rockstar. For example, one player shared a wall / ground hole using Deluxo, a few weeks later, Rockstar issued a warning, patched, and added a new dead zone. The cycle goes on like that, like a digital war. Sometimes players go back to their old patched points, discovering that the point is working again, only to give Rockstar more dead points. Rockstar doesn’t actually reveal these loopholes, instead just quietly observing and updating when players find new bugs.
