Earlier this year, a group of creators successfully reverse-engineered the code GTA 3 and GTA Vice Cityallowing modders to freely update and edit two hit games according to their imagination.
Code re3 can reappear thanks to the argument of Theo, a code developer. Theo said he doesn’t believe Take-Two can claim ownership of the code because it’s been modified and he’s managed to get his product back.
According to the argument: “The code in re3 was reverse engineered, not decompiled. I believe Take-Two’s statement is completely incorrect in this case, since the code could be functionally similar. functionality, but not exactly the same. So the company has no ownership rights to the code.”
The code project was influential in bringing modern features to GTA 3 and Vice City, optimizing these two titles, and even contributing a large part to the development of GTA 3 on Nintendo Switch.
