Gotham Knights, WB Games Montreal’s Latest Batman Game Without Batman

After years of speculation and prediction, studio WB Games Montreal with the blockbuster Batman: Arkhamn Origins has revealed the next Batman game.

The new Batman game, officially called Gotham Knights, is scheduled to launch in 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. Announced at the DC FanDome, this is a two-player co-op online game that has five districts in Gotham City for players to explore. You will travel by Batcycle with dozens of weapons and equipment to use in the game.

The trailer begins with a voiceover depicting the disaster at Gotham City, with Bruce Wayne’s body apparently found in the rubble. Among the characters appearing are Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood.

Here is the official description of each character in the game along with some of their unique skills:

• Batgirl, better known as Barbara Gordon, is a fighter and a talented hacker. Also the daughter of the deceased commissioner Jim Gordon, she helped Batman in his past Oracle role. Now, after years of recuperation and preparation, she is ready to step into a new role, wielding a tonfa weapon and the martial arts of kickboxing, capoeira, and jiu-jitsu.
• Nightwing is Dick Grayson, the original Robin, who was Batman’s assistant before becoming his own hero. He is a born leader and the oldest and wisest member of the Batman Family. Nightwing mastered acrobatic skills with his famous pair of Escrima Sticks as weapons to use to defeat enemies.
• Red Hood, formerly known as Jason Todd, is a fierce and volatile anti-hero. He rose from the dead and was resurrected by one of Batman’s deadliest enemies. Red Hood cannot control his composure but does not hesitate to rush into danger if his friend is threatened. Training has enabled him to achieve peak human strength and mastery in a variety of combat skills with all types of weapons – from traditional to modern.
• Robin is Tim Drake, the youngest member and genius of the team possessing sharp reasoning abilities. A believer in Batman’s ideals, he believes Gotham City needs to be protected and hopes to become a hero like Batman. An expert in stick combat and adept at a variety of stealth skills, Robin is also excellent at psychological combat and understands behavior scientifically.
