Seth Aaron Pendley, 28, was arrested by police last Thursday for allegedly attempting to purchase explosives to destroy an Amazon Web Service (AWS) data center. This data center, he says, accounts for “70% of the internet” in the country. However, Pendley’s plan was foiled when a user sent a message to FBI that the nickname “Dionysus” posted on MyMilitia.com about the intention to conduct “a small experiment”, which could lead to “death”.

The attack was planned in late January when Pendley used the encrypted messaging app Signal to communicate with an explosives supplier. At the end of March, he contacted again but did not expect it to be an undercover FBI agent. On April 8, shortly after the exchange was made, police arrested Pendley.

Pendley’s purpose in wanting to “kill the Internet” is to bring down “the oligarchic regime currently in power in the United States”, preventing millions of users from accessing the Internet. Worth mentioning, Pendley was also involved in the infamous attack on the Capitol that happened last January. Although he did not storm the Capitol, he once boasted on Facebook that he was nearby, holding a piece of broken glass to fight the police.
