A wave of Genshin Impact boycotts is breaking out.
According to the latest post on PCGamer, the international gaming community, mainly from North America, has sparked a strong boycott wave towards the Genshin Impact game.
As noted by PCGamer, there are nearly 100,000 tweets with hashtags #boycottgenshinimpact, #dobettermihoyo or #boycottgenshin which are extremely popular on Twitter. All are aimed at the game of miHoYo.
The source of this story began with a video produced by miHoYo herself about visiting the company’s office in Thuong Hai. In that video, an artist is seen designing Hilichurls, one of the main antagonistic races in Genshin Impact. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if the artist hadn’t used references to Native American dances to design Hilichurls.
In the game, Hilichurls are depicted as lowly, evil, unintelligent and uncultured races. Therefore, the fact that Hilichurls was designed based on documents about Native Americans has angered a large number of international gamers.
“Our culture is not something for you to use haphazardly, miHoYo”, one Twitter user wrote.
“It’s not okay, it’s not fun and I’m really disappointed. A lot of us can’t accept this.”an angry gamer shared.
At the present time, the wave of boycotting Genshin Impact has not stopped. The anger of the international gaming community may cause this game to lose a large number of players in the Western Hemisphere, where the “rich kids” may turn away from the game they used to spend a lot of money on. the silver.
