The tournament system in the game was revealed over the weekend. “Each tournament has its own schedule and timing of the tournament,” Epic said. “Every tournament is completely different – all players will start with the same score and compete for hours of tension, earning as many points as possible. Players can get it by achieving a high rank or shooting down many opponents.”
Players will play against players with the same score in the same event. Players must strive to achieve the set point target, and those who reach that milestone will receive a pin.
Here is the schedule of events in the game:
- Alpha Tournament (Solo): October 16 to 21
- Beta Tournament (Duo): October 23 to 25
- Friday Night Fortnite (Squad): October 19 to November 30
- Salty Springs Cup (Solo): October 27 to 31
- Tomato Temple Cup (Duo): October 28 to November 1
Epic also intends to “develop tournaments with the ability to have the event run in multiple rounds, requiring players to acquire a pin in order to qualify for each subsequent round.” And Epic said later in the year, players will qualify for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup through the Showdow Royale tournament, which is part of the Events system in the game.
The system hopes to bring Fortnite closer to esports.
