What’s hot in the Fortnite 13.20 update?

1. New Flare Gun

Update 13.20 adds the new Flare Gun, which we’ve seen in leaks since before Fortnite Chapter 2 came out. Flare Gun has 6 bullets, deals 60 damage when you aim directly at enemies and has a reload time of 1.5 seconds. It’s obviously not a particularly effective weapon, but the main use of this gun is to set fire to your opponent’s buildings, helping you pressure the enemy to leave their hiding place.

2. Portable Upgrade Bench – Portable Workbench

Desks in Fortnite are often located in locked locations, often slightly hidden. Now you can bring your crafting power with you with a mobile workbench. However, this is not a new item.

To get a portable workbench, you simply go to one of the permanent workbenches aka Upgrade Bench, smash it with a pickaxe or harvesting tool and instead shatters into material, which will spawn as an item that you can pick up. Throw the item at a new location and the workbench will appear again.

3. The island’s water level is starting to drop

As expected, the water covering half of Fortnite’s island is starting to recede back into the ocean. This will reveal new locations. Unfortunately, no new locations have been revealed yet, but we can see the tops of some areas starting to emerge from the water.

4. Bug fixes

As always, Epic has addressed a number of bugs that appeared in Fortnite. Epic didn’t create a real update note with full details, but here’s what they say they fixed via Trello:

– Fixed the issue of Specialist Pickaxe and Arroyo Pack Back Bling losing details in some players.
– Fixed music playback on Main Stage in Party Royale mode.
– Fixed an issue where Sandstorm was missing hair when equipped with No Mask No Cowl.
– Fixed an issue where players would take damage when falling from a zipline into shallow water.
– Fixed legendary and epic SMGs sometimes being unable to Sidegrade (modify).
– Fixed Chug Splash not working if thrown at a shrub.
– Fixed Supply Drop sometimes pushing loot under the map.
