After ESL One Birmingham ended, Misery and Fear left the main Evil Geniuses roster. With two names gone, it is highly likely that SumaiL will return to mid, thereby leaving the offlane and hard support positions empty.
EG is now announcing that OG’s s4 will be the player they will recruit and play offlane. s4 made his name from the legendary TI3 Alliance roster, the tournament he helped the team win the championship. Since then, he has always been a great player, but has not been able to replicate the achievement as he did in 2013.
“I want to thank everyone who has been and is a part of OG.” s4 said in OG’s Facebook post. “Two years of hard work and success were tough but the rewards were well worth it. I’m sad but also excited about what’s to come. I wish OG the best of luck in the future!”
Meanwhile, there was another move that was even more surprising. Fly, one of the early members of OG, also announced his departure from the team. Fly is not only a contributor to the creation of OG, but also a captain outside the game. For EG, owning Fly is probably more valuable than S4. Fly is well known for his leadership and given the problems EG has been facing since ppd left the team, Fly was seen as the best person for the job.
“In a rather heavy mood, I have to announce that I am leaving OG,” Fly said. “The last few years have been some of the best in my life, getting to know and work with amazing people. Winning 4 Valve Majors together and going through many tournaments together, there are memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. I don’t know how to thank everyone who has supported me and OG in this journey, and I wish them every success. #DreamOG”

OG must now find new names for the roster while the TI Open Qualifiers are less than 3 weeks away. OG has shown promise recently, reaching the playoffs in the last three tournaments the team attended, but all of that was too late. With this move, the chance for OG to qualify for TI8 is quite slim.
“We are super excited to prepare for the Super Major and TI qualifiers with S4 and Fly,” said Phillip Aram, CEO of EG. “They are two of the featured players in Dota and we are honored to have them at EG.”
“While exhilarating, I would like to reiterate the issue in Dota’s $20 million roster locking system and qualifiers that have caused last-minute roster changes every year. This is not good for players. We hope Valve will realistically re-evaluate the problems teams face in this system and make changes to help the player and professional scene grow better.”
Meanwhile, sources close to OG said that the team will not attend the Super Major, as a replacement member cannot be found for the event. Both OG and EG are invited to this tournament, which starts on June 2.
